OLD COVERED WAGON
17" x 18"
I enjoy creating emotion in my pastel portraits, action in my rodeo drawings and Native American Dancer paintings, to escape to a time and place in the past with my drawings and paintings of historical buildings and relics of the past, and to relive in my landscape paintings memories of beautiful places I have loved.
I am a retired educator, having a BA in Art and Education, a MA in Counseling, and post graduate work in Psychology. Having earned the status of Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado I strive for excellence in my art. I work in ink, oil, and pastel and have had my art juried into 34 National art exhibitions in the past 17 years in the states of Colorado, Wyoming, North Carolina, Kansas, and Arizona.
The ink drawing I have selected for the Martha’s Vineyard Drawing Price exhibition with the theme of “The Tie That Binds” is a nostalgic image of our American History: an old covered wagon. The abandoned old covered wagon still stands in the cottonwoods of Pitkin, Colorado, and is an image that helps us remember a part of our country’s past, a “tie that binds.”
