"Hansel and Gretel", like the titular fairytale, addresses the issue of a "home" becoming hostile. Hansel and Gretel are searching for their way back home, but begin to realize that they may not be able to go back to things as they once were. They will need to determine what their new roles are in this story. Their relationship with one another provides stability in an otherwise isolating and unfamiliar environment, a home that transcends space.
