The Martha's Vineyard Drawing Prize is an international art competition established to encourage the pursuit of excellence in drawing.
The competition is sponsored by artist Elizabeth R. Whelan, an artist living on the island of Martha's Vineyard who created the competition in 2019 to promote drawing in all its forms; ranging from the immediate sketch to the fine classical rendering, from the contemporary abstract to the exploration of a subject with or without color.
The Martha's Vineyard Drawing Prize is open to artists 18 years and older living in the United States and Canada (including territories), and each year's competition has a theme. (See Theme page for more info.)
Drawings may be created using graphite, charcoal, Conté, silverpoint, pen & ink, colored pencil, chalks, or other suitable drawing media. This is an online-only competition with no size restriction, and no need to frame and ship your work.
Submissions to the competition can be made via the Call for Entry website. Please see General Info and FAQs for more information.
